Exciting as this may be, i am not at all sure the last couple of minutes should be this fast and this loud. More Bernstein than Shoshtakovich here.Works with the Mahler syphonies maybe but am not sure it does with this work.Bernstein's own recording with the same orchestra which i have on my i pod is more faithful to the score.

I don't know who the flutist at 5:05 resembles but he has an absolutely beautiful tone. Different from any others I have ever heard.
