If it was a good shot, the bird can still run or fly away. It probably didn't go more than 50-100yds. If you get another chance at a bird, remember to aim for the shoulder blade, or if the bird facing away from you, the spin. This was the bird will not be able to run or fly away.

i hit a gobbler at 15 yards yesterday and didn't recover..we watched the film and it was a perfect shot..any thoughts on what could've happened?
