doesn't neccesarily mean they're better than bb, bb use fun lyrics with energetic guitar to make really good music, in my opinion at least

true, I mean, the roots are the quintessential live hip hop act. I don't really know anyone else that does live hip hop any where near the roots caliber.

i agree with you man, beastie boys aren't even live in comparasion to the roots...these people must not even listen to the beastie boys, paul botique was full of samples and license to ill aswell
geniusgza7 (July 20, 2008 at 1:14 pm)
yeah but there is loads of hiphop groups that use live instruments more than the beastie boys!

never said they didn't, but this guy is saying they don't use drum machines, and bass synthesizers, ever heard of an 808 numbnuts? They rock on live insturments but their meat and potatoes is rhyming to quantized rhythms, hence, hip hop.
stevewags13 (July 16, 2008 at 6:49 pm)
well they use plenty of that on other songs.. but remember they were a punk band playing rock songs before becoming a hip hop act..so they always had the instruments in them..
