Very true. Hendrix had a great deal of respect for Leslie. His affinity for West and his playing style is fairly well documented. Funny that Clapton was the only bona fide legend that was so close to West (they shared BOTH Felix Pappalardi AND Jack Bruce) that never as much as mentioned West's name in public. I think the world is missing one great Blues/Rock N Roll album. A Clapton/West collaboration would have been a Mountain of a hit, pun intended...

I agree, clapton's vibrato is crap compared to Leslie. About Clapton's "technique;" he always sounds like he copies BB King too much. I love clapton only when he's not playing traditional style blues. When he does, he sounds like an imitation. Sadly, many players copy him so you hear a copy of a copy in todays guitarists inspired by clapton. Leslie has more of an original, sweet tone and that's why Hendrix made it a point to see Mountain whenever he could.

i was lucky enough to see mountain in the original configuration on two occasions in the early 70's. Felix was a wonderful part of that partnership. Leslie just floored me. Corky made a dent as well.
