A great movie with a great cast. Robert Shaw's recollection about the USS Indianapolis is mezmerizing. I'd guess the only thing scarier than seeing a shark's fin coming at you in the water has to be when the fin disappears below the water. Gives me the heebeejeebees just thinking about it.

Saw this film on TV when I was four - scared the crap out of me and gave me recurring nightmares at the time, but also gave me a real respect and fascination for the power of the ocean and everything in it! Not many popular films can do that!

u know this movie is based on some true facts, btw u guys do know, sharks r the nisest things in the world, they attack us cuz they think we r danger to them wich we r ppl usually go after them to kill them, nd they only eat certain types of fish nd confuse us for food, cuz u guys seen ppl swimming with them, when ur very carefull, they wont attack u ur as one of them in the ocean, but they know we r danger, nd can confuse us for food, read about it ull find out they r they nicest things.. etc..

1975 was the year that the Hollywood "blockbuster" came about and was the beginning of the end for New Hollywood. This film would go on to make over $460 million in ticket sales and become the highest grossing film of all time until Star Wars was released two years later. |
