good theory, in later years clapton did more and more slow things, which would push your statement

Now I understand why Cream broke-up. As great as a soloist that he was, Clapton couldn't take the constant pressure of the MONSTER rhythm section behind him, pushing him farther and onwards, higher and higher, relentlessly. Being up front as a lead guitarist, especially as the superstar he already was, had finally gotten to him. Jack and Ginger were and are, geniuses.

Music like this is still popular by those who have open minds and really understand what music is with real meaning, musicianship, and complexity.

lol well i like robert johnson and i know he was a very talented blues man. He did leave his footprint in the road of rock but as far as pure skill (not composition) goes , ill take the cream era clapton any day of the week. In other words, they were both great at what they did.

i dunno man, i find robert johnson songs pretty challenging to learn...he did a lot of lead and rythem at the same time, which is pretty difficult...

Well, even though old bands like those are going "out of style," there are still alot of great bands out there, many of them that started after 2000. The Black Keys are a prime example.

It's still pretty popular, at least by people who listen to real music. Not people who listen to crap like today's rap and pop, top 40 hit radio stuff.
