for pokemon it worked, since its more of a kids show anyway, but one piece is more for teenagers and thinking that a show for teenagers can be turned into a show for kids is really stupid

With the Marine/navy thing, you could tell that they edited that.

They "Americanised/westernised" it. They did the same with pokemon. No one complained about pokemon though, I watched that dub and to be honest it doesn't even show that it was never an america animation. If you didn't know anime, you'd never be any wiser. Its just unfortune that OP didn't work the same way... They over did it and it ruined it. Don't mistake it for racism, racist it is not. They just used the formula that worked for one show in another, but what worked for one did not here

I think that 4-Kids is just really dumb. They probably hated the show too which made them rush through it like they did and do a crappy job of it. They ruined some of my favorite series and...yeah I just hate them. I feel bad for the VA's that have to work with them because they have to say some stupid stuff because of the edits and put on crappy accents *coughrobinandsanjicough*.

Unfortunately, its always been difficult to put over the black "look" in anime (they got better at it as time went by though). They usually stick on the easy path and stay with formulas people know... Kinda like how the sterotype "geek" in anime can have swirly glasses. Its all about stereotypes in anime, no matter how you want or like it... If your an anime fan, you've got to learn to endure it. :/
