Vit--its not by much. But basically, same as the back seat is safer in a car, so it is with airplanes. Sure, most cases it wont make a bit of difference.

The DC-10 has been given a bad name. Accidents will happen when an aircraft is not properly inspected. I always wondered which was the better plane, the DC-10 or the L1011.

I don't like the idea of an engine on the tail in that spot either. I used to always sit right behind the wings or try my best to get that seat as a kid, and still would be tempted to now, to see the flaps during takeoff and landing, but I want to be no where near the back during a crash for obvious reasons, especially in a DC-10 or a Boeing 727. The 727 I think is a good design, but the DC-10 just has a potentially dangerous look to it. |
