Also, the ending with them driving away in a car as everyone waves is just like the end of Grease. And they have a male and female singer, as how in Grease the two protagonists are female and male. Am I over-thinking this?....

The more I watch this, the more I think that it is somehow inspired by the movie Grease. Some of the dance moves they do(such as ones when they are all just dancing by) are from Grease or similar to ones from Grease, their outfits seem reminiscent of the time period, and the lyrics to the song seem to be related. Such as being a pretender and love today and not the next, referring to how Danny acted differently around his friends. And how they had trouble showing love for each other. GAH BRAIN
