I think the reason why he uses his thumb on this song is because it's very hard to play with barre chords. Especially when I play it and I'm repeating that intro part in the interlude, my left hand is damn tired when I play with barre chords. And when I'm standing, it's almost impossible.

Well it's none one of them! It's a Martin 0-15!!! If you want to get one you have to watch out for ebay because they aren't produced anymore(until early 60's) . He has two of them i think from '47.They are currently two or three offered on ebay.

plus, this is a video. they're all pretty simple chords, though note that he uses thumb over for barre chords. you don't have to, but if you're watching it may confuse you to see it.
