of course there are better justifications i was only responding to zoldello question, about who can modify a code, and who has the time to do it. Free software involves a new way of seeing things, propietary software always require money to survive so it damages the etic of world, entering on a fight of who can make the best software in the shortest time, free software involves an age of sharing for the comunity, and as one fight for world development

I believe there are better justifications for why average users benefit may from free software. Free software is capable of a more intrinsic usage, than proprietary software. Since money is rarely required to make free software better, the target audience may integrate far more easily.

This man DEFINED free software. Look at the definition on the Free Software Foundation's page.

1. Get a razor NOT FREE but head down the drugstore they can be cheap.2. Buy a lamp NOT FREE but head down the hardware store not the motherboard one they too can be pretty cheap.3. For your own sake stop talking shit.4. Stop hatin Bill Gates because he has more money than you and Microsoft are a major business who make good shit.5. Rinse & repeat steps 1 to 5 or a LOOP as you may know it the one you are STUCK IN.

The word of righteousness shineth forth amongst the black voids of crippled computing rights. Saint Ignucious is the brilliant father of the movement that shall set all computer users free from DRM, non-free software, and treacherous computing. I implore ye to cleave to what is right, do not be swayed by convenience, do not fall to the level of Venom Incarnate (VI), and do not be seduced be MS Word, the scarlet woman of Babylon. Be free, end user and programmers alike, BE FREE!

Free software is always over priced.

free software means that software you get for free(in my opinion)what he's talking about is open-source (again, in my opinion
Huakalero (July 2, 2008 at 2:41 am)
there's no need to know how to modify the code. If you really need it to be modified you can hire a programmer to do it, paying well, they will effort on making it according to your needs, that's how it works, little modifications dont need too much time.

Stallman is a genius but I think he has lost touch of reality living in "free software land ". Yeah, free software is cool and yada yada yada... How many of you readers know how to modify source code? And the ones that do, how many have the time to? Lets say the open source application meets your needs so no modification is need... Haha! There is tech support. I believe open source to Stallman's extend is great for small developer groups. But its it bad for the general public.

Various- the programmer may have a day job like be a web developer or have a non-programming job. The emphasis though is on "open source" and not how the developers earn a living.
