We know that, EL CID is a muslim word, bottom line is he is a Spanish Christian, Muslims gave him the name CID ..The nickname "El Cid" comes from the Spanish article "El", which means "The" and the dialectal Arab word سيد "sïdiFor your information his real name is Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar. There were Spanish Muslims fighting alone side him.

Why are there so many dumb people commenting on this video? The US are not getting their arses whipped in Iraq. The news and media talk about it being tragic how a couple of hundred allied troops have died in the war - no disrespect, but if we only lose a couple of hundred soldiers in a war, then I say we are well and truly on top.

El Cid was a gentleman who reconquered several cities for Christianity and all at that time were mercenaries working for the best at that time Mr and that was normal. The Muslims who called him Cid and then Christians also means nothing more than Christians as the Moors called him and I do not understand if you say that came from Africa? I say this because if you killed. Not ceases to be Christian or Spanish and have participated in the reconquest although it could sell at best.

The idea that El Cid and El Bueno were the legendary Crusading heroes of Spain is only a myth. They were just mercenaries and fought for whoever paid them. El Bueno wasn't even Spanish. He was a Muslim and came from northern Africa. Did you know the name El Cid derives from Arabic meaning "My Lord" or "My Master". There is an excellent British documentary on YouTube, called "When the Moors Ruled in Europe".

E171ncA Problem is that in USA you get these views because all your newspapers and TV (and Hollywood) tell you that Muslins are evil ... when in fact until 9/11 they stayed in their own place and minded their own business and the Europeans and USA went to their countries and messed them up bigtime (Crusades, Suez canal, Oil, Israel). It is a fact that Christians have been far far crueler over history than they have. Reconsider your views buddy, after you have read a bit of un-biased history.
